JAMES L. SEITZ SR 77, of Bradenton, Florida passed away in Liana Memory Care in Sarasota, Florida on March 2, 2025 after a battle with Parkinson's.
Born March 1, 1948 in Salamanca, New York to the late James A. Seitz and Fay F. (Wilson) O'Donnell. Jim was married 56 years to Bonnie J. (Coombes) Seitz also from Salamanca on August 10, 1968. They have two sons, James L. Seitz Jr and Jeffrey A. Seitz. Five grandchildren Brianna, Tyler, Matthew, David and Benjamin.
He was the oldest of sixteen siblings in his extended family with whom he loved to gather with at their annual family reunions.
Jim graduated from Salamanca High School Class of 1966 and went on to Canton State University and received an Electrical Engineering degree. He furthered his education at RIT with a Masters Degree in Computer Systems Management while working for IBM in Rochester, N.Y.
Jim was called to serve in the Army in 1969 and became a Lieutenant 1st Class in Signal Corps. He was stationed in FT Monmouth, New Jersey teaching computers to officers during the Vietnam War.
On his return to IBM he advanced through the company quickly, from Field Manager in Hartford CT, Branch Manager in Fairfield County CT, Administrative Assistant to CEO's and then Field Engineer Region Manager to the Mid-Atlantic Area. His final accomplishment was Director of Field Technical Operations at NSD HQ. He always cared about "commitment to customer service ".
In his free time he was involved with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute which covers Marine Ecosystem Conservation and Ocean Research for Human Health. Jim became a financial advisor and the Chairman to HBO.
When Jim wasn't involved with volunteer work his favorite moments throughout his life were traveling the world scuba diving, playing golf or visiting "wine country " in Italy and California. When he wasn't doing that he was spending it with his family, "making memories ", taking vacations with them and hunting and fishing. He traveled the world, but the most joy was being with his family. He will be missed.
