James V. Tipton Jr. of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 25th, 2024. Surrounded by his loving family at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 23, 1932 in Dublin, GA. He was one of 11 children of the late James V. Tipton and Lucy Tipton.
James proudly served his country for 20 years in U.S. Army. He retired as a staff sargent, having served 2 tours in South Vietnam. He was a Charter Member, Trustee, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Woodland Community Church. He participated in the Florida Cracker Trail as a wagon driver.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley Ann Tipton. His many survivors include his daughter Kathy Tipton-Wolfe and her husband Robert Wolfe of Parrish, Florida. A son Donald Tipton and his wife Pennie Reno-Tipton of Matthews, North Carolina; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children, 3 great-great-grandchildren and 5 siblings.
Family and friends will gather at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. West on January 29, 2024 from 6pm-8pm.
Services will be at Woodland Community Church on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10am. Graveside with full military honors at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
Officiating will be Rev. Tim Passmore.
