Janice Ann Betters

Posted

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Janice Betters on 05/23/2026. To know Janice was to understand that love can be imperfect yet profound. She carried deep love for her family and friends throughout her life. She filled many roles in life, including devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. Janice was born on 01/15/1947 to James and Evelyn Snow in Black Brook, New York where she was raised with her siblings Dona Warner, Glenn Snow, and Brian Snow.

Janice will be remembered for her strong-willed spirit, determination, and unmistakable personality. She spent her career working alongside her beloved husband as a mail carrier, a role she took great pride in. Though she could be tough at times, Janice had a deeply compassionate heart, especially when it came to children. She never failed to show love and kindness to every child she met, including her great-grandchildren, with whom she spent her final days. Janice found joy in caring for her home, shopping, playing bingo, fishing with her husband, tending to flowers, and anything that sparkled and brought a little extra beauty into life.

Janice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Betters, parents James and Evelyn Snow and brother, Glenn Snow. She is survived by her daughters Jeannine Abare and Michelle Braid, son David Guschue; siblings, Dona Warner and Brian Snow, sister and brother in-laws Rose Blaise, Phyllis Betters, and Charles Betters, grandchildren Bryce Allen, Therian Betters, Sarah Braid, great grandchildren Enziatta, City, and Connor and many nieces and nephews.

Mom/Grandma, we will miss you dearly. We will miss the endless shopping trips, your insistence on buying yet another soft cozy blanket even though you already had at least twenty, and the smile that lit up your face whenever you spent time with the babies. We will miss your silly laugh whenever something made you giggle, the little nod you gave to pretend you could hear, and all the adventurous stories about you and Dad/Grandpa that always kept us entertained. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with you, and every time we sit down to eat seafood, we will make sure not a single bite goes to waste. We are glad you are finally reunited with your beloved husband just as you wished — dancing together again and, of course, still driving him crazy. We love you always.

A committal service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 1PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

Memorial donations may be made to Bradenton Hospice House in Janice's name.
