Jeanne Dorothea Tucker Pettit, known to family and friends as Jeanne, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, of natural causes at the age of 92.

She was born on November 21, 1933, in Uniondale, New York, and lived a life marked by devotion, grace, and quiet strength.

Jeanne was a Christian woman whose faith was a steady part of her life and a source of comfort and guidance to those around her. She was intelligent, thoughtful, and creative, qualities that were evident in the way she cared for her family, approached her work, and enjoyed the many interests that brought her joy throughout her life.

Jeanne earned her Registered Nursing degree from SUNY Farmingdale and went on to serve as a Registered Nurse at Huntington Hospital in New York. Her work reflected her compassion, discipline, and desire to help others. She carried herself with professionalism and kindness, and those who knew her in her nursing career remembered her for her dependable nature and her calm presence. Her dedication to caring for others was a defining part of who she was.

Family was at the center of Jeanne’s life. She was married to Joseph Pettit for 67 years, and together they built a loving home and raised seven children. Their marriage was a lasting example of commitment, partnership, and devotion. Jeanne treasured her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she found great happiness in the generations that followed.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Pettit IV, Russell Pettit, Lorilyn Pettit Armstrong and her husband James, Todd Pettit and his wife Rachel, Jeffrey Pettit and his wife Joanne, and Dawn Pettit Seablom. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Pettit Mowbray and her husband Luke, Keith Pettit and his wife Chelsea, Amber Pettit Williams and her husband Jordan, Ryder Seablom, Tucker Seablom, Nathan Seablom, Jamie Pettit, and Sophia Pettit, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Jeanne is also survived by her sisters, Carol Tucker Marquardt and Lois Tucker Schlosser, along with their families.

The bonds she shared with her sisters remained an important part of her life, and she valued the closeness of family throughout her years. She was a source of love, wisdom, and encouragement to many, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her devotion to family and her career in nursing, Jeanne enjoyed a number of interests that enriched her life. She loved bowling, floral design, plants, and travel. She found pleasure in both the simple and the memorable moments of life, and she had an appreciation for beauty, nature, and time spent exploring new places. These interests reflected her creative spirit and her enjoyment of life’s many blessings.

Jeanne will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she showed in every season of life, and the example she set through her faith, work, and family life. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, especially in the family she nurtured with such care and devotion. She leaves behind a lasting memory of a woman whose life was defined by love, intelligence, thoughtfulness, and creativity.
