John Russell Evans, Jr. "Jack" passed away on June 30, 2024 at Greenbriar Rehab and Nursing Center in Bradenton, Florida.

Jack was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 13, 1945 to John R. and Wilma {Parker) Evans.

He developed a love for radio at an early age and knew what he wanted to do as a career. In college he took radio and TV production and landed his first job while still in college at a Florida station. His disc jockey journey took him back to his hometown of Springfield, Grand Rapids, MI, Buffalo, NY and then Columbus, OH.

In Columbus he jetted to celebrity on the "Jack 'n Dick "morning show. They coined the phrase "Yeah Boy" and were beloved. He came full circle with his career finishing at WQYK in Tampa, Florida.

Along with his love of radio Jack cherished his close friends, a chocolate sundae, a good monopoly game, sunsets on the beach and a good meal at Peaches, Ed's or Michelangelo's. He never had an unkind word to say and he never liked good byes.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer C. Miller (Joseph), 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His brother, Robert Evans (Pat), 2 nieces, 1 nephew and their families as well as his stepson, Brian Kolesa (Abby) and grand daughter.

There will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Jacks life will be held in the fall. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Greenbriar for their incredible care and kindness. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations to be made in Jacks honor to Greenbriar to aide residents who don't have families and may need personal items.
