John George Guze Jr

Deacon John George "Jack" Guze Jr., 83, passed away in his sleep in Bradenton, FL, on November 21, 2022.

Born in Trenton, NJ on March 2, 1939, to John and Anna (Chintala) Guze. He was a graduate of Hamilton High West class of 1956 and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He was part of their co-op work program, was employed, and retired from the Inland Fisher Body GM Plant located in West Trenton, NJ. He met the love of his life, Brenda (Sopko) and married in April 1963.

He was a mechanic for the United States Air Force Reserves out of McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington County, NJ. He also worked for Honeywell in King of Prussia, PA, MetLife Insurance in Lansdale/North Wales, PA, and Century 21 Realty both of West Trenton, NJ, and Sarasota, FL. Being devout in his faith, he studied and was ordained in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church as a Deacon on August 15, 1984. He was a parishioner of St Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, attended parochial school K -8, and later in life had studied under their Cantor, Professor John Mitchell, who was a student of the Metropolitan Opera. He was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and would attempt and attend daily morning Mass and the recital of the Rosary.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Guze. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Guze; sons, Brian Guze (Harriett) Yardley, PA and John Guze (Maria) Summerfield, NC; daughter, Karen Guze Bradenton, FL; brother, George Guze (Valerie) Hamilton Square, NJ; and five grandchildren, Victor Guze, Brian Guze, Sean Guze, Michael Guze, and Mackenzie "Mac" Guze; nephews Jason Sopko, Delaware, and Dan Sopko (Nicole) Virginia.

There will be a visitation for friends and loved ones of Deacon John and his family at Brown and Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd St W, Bradenton, FL 34209, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 5 PM to 8 PM. There will be a Burial Mass with Military Honors will be at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205, Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11 AM.
