Of Rockland, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, with his loving family by his side at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, following a period of declining health. He was 77.
Born on July 29, 1948, in Waltham, John was the son of the late George Livermore and Mary Elizabeth (McManus) Livermore.
John was raised and resided many years in Waltham, where he started his family before moving to Rockland 44 years ago.
He was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston before earning his bachelor's degree in education from Framingham State University. John devoted most of his professional career to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was employed as a Building Operations Manager.
John's life revolved around his family, whom he cherished deeply. He was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication. He was quite the handyman, who enjoyed fixing anything that needed repairs. An avid reader and history buff, he enjoyed trips to the beach, golfing, tending to his vegetable garden, and cheering on the New England Patriots as a devoted sports fan.
He loved watching and supporting his beloved grandchildren's various sports and activities. He also treasured the many years spent with his wife in Bradenton Beach, Florida.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen "Kathy" (McCluskey) Livermore, in 2019. He is survived by his loving children, Andrea M. Moran and her husband Thomas of Rockland, and John M. Livermore Jr. of Rockland; his cherished twin grandchildren, Daniel Moran and Ashley Moran; and his dear sisters, Mary Anne Guthrie and her husband Roger of Summerville, South Carolina, Ruth Turner-Cusick and her husband Tom of Waltham, Susan DerGarabedian and her husband Anthony of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Kathleen "Kathy" Mansfield of Tampa, Florida. He was also predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Livermore.
In addition, John is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Those who wish to pay their respects to John and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on FRIDAY morning January 2nd from 10am until 12pm. followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of John's Life at 12:00 pm.
