BRADENTON – David Jolly won the Republican Congressional primary on Tuesday, setting up what is predicted to be an intense general election with former Democratic gubernatorial candidate of Florida CFO Alex Sink on March 11. Jolly easily won the three-person race with 45 percent of the vote.
A former congressional aide and Washington lobbyist, the 41-year old Jolly beat state Rep. Kathleen Peters (31 percent) and Mark Bircher (24 percent). according to unofficial results.
Young, who spent 43 years in Congress, passed away on October 18, 2013.
