Joseph Grimaudo, Jr.

Posted

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Grimaudo, Jr. Joseph passed peacefully on July 30, 2024, at the age of 92. He is survived by his Life Partner Erika Chabra; His children Maria Bonanni (Allesandro), Joseph Grimaudo Ill, Patricia Kopp (Patrick), James Grimaudo (Sue); His Grandchildren Marina Stavale (Anthony), Noah Grimaudo, Jacob Kopp, Myah Grimaudo, Mikhaila Kopp; His Great-Grandson Santino Stavale.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Joseph graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology-College of Pharmacy (Wayne State University) in 1955. He dedicated his life to medicine and healing. He was the owner and proprietor of Modern Medical Pharmacy and Surgical Supply in Eastpointe, Michigan where he specialized in wound care, and provided patient education, among other medical and surgical services to his community. He maintained his education and renewed his Pharmacist license right up to age 90.

Joseph was raised in the Catholic faith. He enjoyed and found comfort in attending Catholic Mass every week. In 1963 he joined the Knights of Columbus, later earning his status of 4th Degree Knight, in 1966. He remained a lifetime member.

Joseph was proud of his Italian heritage which led him to become a long-standing member of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce, in Michigan. He served that group as President in 1973.

In his younger years, Joseph enjoyed many outdoor activities like skiing, tennis, hunting, and boating. As a lifetime member of the Clinton River Boat Club in Michigan, he had the honor of serving as their Commodore for the year of 1982.

In recent years, Joseph enjoyed spending time with his beloved Erika, attending live theatre, watching a good mini-series or an old western on television, swimming, cooking, and playing in a weekly poker game. He also loved spending time with family and friends that would visit from all over the country, and he was always ready for a (sometimes spirited) political discussion.

Though he went by many different names... Joe... Pa... Pop... Grandpa... Cousin Joe... and Dad... Joseph was loved and will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11 AM, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 3100 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34205. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude (https://www.stjude.org).
We will miss you. May you be at peace and may your soul fly free.

Until we meet again...
