Joy Ann Bandstra (née Molhoek) of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully in her residence on May 4, 2026. Joy, originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, was the youngest of two daughters born to John and Ruby Molhoek on June 4, 1946. Joy attended Ridgewood High School and Eastern School for Physicians Assistants. Her family attended Ridgewood Baptist Church, where she would later meet her husband, Henry Bandstra.
Joy and Henry were married on March 1, 1969, and celebrated nearly 52 years of marriage before Henry’s passing in 2021. The couple relocated from New Jersey to Bradenton, Florida in 1971. They had two beautiful daughters, Lisa and Rebecca.
Joy, who loved music, faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church where she was a part of the choir. Joy sang with the choir every Sunday, and when she could no longer attend due to her health, she sang along to the 88.1 Joy FM radio station every morning. Joy is predeceased by her parents, her sister Grace, and her husband. Joy is survived by two daughters, and two grandchildren, as well as extended family and dear friends.
Services in honor of Joy’s life will be held at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL, on May 30, 2026, at 11 in the morning. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Equality Florida at www.eqfl.org (See Below).
