Joyce Horrocks Knight, 98, of Palmetto, Florida, died on January 2, 2025.
She was born in Rochester, New York in 1926 to Avis and Tom Horrocks. She grew up in Syracuse, New York and graduated from Syracuse University where she studied to become a Registered Nurse.
Joyce and her husband, Paul Knight, moved to Manatee County in 1955 and made their home in Palmetto. A skilled seamstress, Joyce shared her sewing skills with many in the community. After becoming a Girl Scout leader, Joyce served on the board of the Gulf coast Girl Scout Council for many years. An avid reader, she also enjoyed traveling and visited many international destinations.
She is survived by her son Jerry Knight, daughter Shelley Eisner, brother Don Horrocks, grandson Andrew Eisner, granddaughter Allie Henderson and seven great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by husband Paul Knight, her brother Lynn Horrocks, and sister Joan Broadbent.
A memorial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, February 5, 2025, at 2:00pm.
