Judy Ann Light, aged 82, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by love and family.

Born on August 19, 1943, in Slocomb, Alabama, Judy came to Sarasota, Florida as a very young child. She attended Fruitville Elementary School, Sarasota Junior High School and graduated from Riverview High School, here in Sarasota, in the Class of1961. Judy worked for EMR Telemetry and then for Florida Power and Light before marrying Chuck Light and relocating to Texas.

While in Texas, Judy became a dedicated member of Berachah Church in Houston and studied the Bible Doctrine teachings of Colonel Robert B. Thieme, Jr., which she passed along to family and friends who still follow those teachings today.

Judy (and Chuck) eventually returned to Sarasota, where she worked for the District 12 Medical Examiner’s Office for several years, a job she enjoyed very much, until her retirement. Judy was a member of Colonial Oaks Baptist Church for the last several years.

Judy will always be remembered as such a bright light; a pioneer; even a fashionista of her time, if you will. She was always known as a helper and a giver. She was

a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She had a quick-witted sense of humor, a contagious laugh and a warm smile that was almost always on display. She was all of these things, though she faced profound loss in her lifetime.

Judy was predeceased not only by her parents, Hercial and Walderene Brown, but also by her brother David Brown and by both of her beloved sons, M. Cliffton Light and Richard Marc Light, whose memories she carried tenderly with her in her heart every day.

Left to cherish her precious memory is her husband of nearly 50 years, Chuck Light; her sisters: Delores Brown Lamb (Robert, deceased), Charlotte McCall (Danney, deceased), and Jenny R. Mills (Terry); along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services have yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Dementia Society of America, Tidewell Hospice or any charity of your choice.
