Karin Colleen Storey Peters, known lovingly to family and friends as KC, passed away on August 25, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, from natural causes.
She was born on January 27, 1950, in Independence, Louisiana, and lived a life marked by devotion, warmth, humor, and creativity. She was a Christian whose faith was an important part of her life and a source of comfort and strength to her and those around her. KC was a woman who made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was loving, funny, and creative, and those qualities were reflected in the way she cared for her family, the way she worked, and the way she approached each day. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence brought light and laughter into the lives of many. Her kindness and steady spirit were among her most cherished traits, and she will be remembered for the genuine affection she showed to those she loved.
She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Manatee Community College, an accomplishment that reflected her commitment to learning and personal growth. KC built a career as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant in the hotel industry and with nonprofit groups, where she was known for her reliability, organization, and willingness to help wherever she was needed. Her work ethic and professionalism earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike, and she contributed faithfully to every place she served.
KC also found joy in the simple and creative pleasures of life. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and ceramics, and she had a natural talent for working with her hands. These interests gave her many hours of satisfaction and allowed her to share her creativity with others. Whether she was making something beautiful, solving a problem, or sharing a laugh, she brought thoughtfulness and care to all she did.
She is survived by her children, Chris and Danette Peters, Paul Peters, and Alice and Zack McClary. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Riley and Joel Peters, Emma, Paxton, and Aleksandr Peters, and Killian and Weldon McClary. She is survived by her brother, George Storey, and her sisters, Charlotte Bowlin, Pat Spruill, and Suzy Davis. Her family was a source of great pride and joy throughout her life, and she treasured each of them deeply. KC was preceded in death by her husband, Gerold “Jerry” Peters, her parents, Paul and Mickey Storey, and her brothers, Paul “Butch” Storey and Nat Storey.
She carried the memory of those who went before her with love and grace, and her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with them now. Those who knew KC will remember her for her loving heart, her quick wit, and her creative spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, faithful service, and quiet strength. Her life was a blessing to many, and her memory will be cherished always.
