Bradenton, Florida - Kenneth Roy Monett, born on July 30, 1933, passed away peacefully surrounded by generations of family on July 28, 2024. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Ken's life was marked by hard work, service, and a deep love for his family.
At the age of 9, Ken met the love of his life, Betty Elaine Schmidt. Their bond grew from childhood friendship to a beautiful marriage of 54 years. Betty preceded him in death, leaving a void that could never be filled. Ken and Betty were blessed with two loving daughters, Linda and Karen. Three years ago, Ken discovered that he had another daughter, Jeanne. He cherished this time getting to know her and more family. Ken is survived by, daughters, Linda Monette (Harold), Karen (Dave) Amos, and Jeanne (Dennis) DeGraad, grandchildren, Bryan (Laura) Boley, Nico (Rebecca) Ferry, Alisha (Ryan) Smith, Tim Konzel, Trisha Konzel (fiancé George), Derek DeGraad, and John DeGraad, great grandchildren, Wyatt Ferry, Colton Boley, Adalynn and Bryer Smith, brother, Lee Monett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lakewood Ranch Tidewell Hospice House. Family and friends will be welcomed for the memorial service at The Sarasota National Cemetery on September 5th, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. To follow, a celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Elks Lodge, 5680 Rosin Way, Sarasota, FL at 4:00 p.m. As we remember Ken, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
