BRADENTON — Kristen Truong, a lifelong Republican and Manatee County native, says she will run for Florida State House District 71, the seat currently held by Rep. Will Robinson. Robinson is prevented by term limits from seeking reelection to the seat in 2026. The district covers the western portion of Manatee County, stretching from Anna Maria Island to Palmetto.
“The opportunity to serve a community that I’ve called home my entire life is not a responsibility I take lightly,” said Truong, who currently serves as Vice President of Public Affairs at Capitol Hill Partners, where she provides strategic guidance on education and workforce development. “Whether it’s lowering out-of-control insurance premiums, reducing cost-of-living, or ensuring our children have the resources necessary to thrive and prosper, I will never stop fighting for conservative values that make our County and State the best place to live and grow a family.”
Truong, who is married to Manatee County Commissioner Tal Siddique, was born in Manatee County in 1995 to parents who fled post-war Vietnam. After attending St. Joseph Catholic School and Bradenton Christian School, Truong received her Bachelor’s in International Studies from the University of South Florida and her Master's of Public Administration from American University with a concentration in public financial management.
Truong’s volunteer experience includes serving on the Board of Directors of both the Manatee Community Foundation and Bradenton Kiwanis, chairing the annual gala for the Boys and Girls Club of Manatee County, and advocating on behalf of children in the 12th Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Truong credited Robinson’s extensive record fighting for conservative causes as one of the inspirations for her decision to run for office.
“Representative Robinson is a third-generation Bradentonian who has a personal understanding of the issues we care about in Manatee County. I look forward to continuing his track record of fiscal conservatism while standing firm as a staunch Second Amendment defender and Pro-life Republican.”

Although I am sure she is a good person, I don't like the idea of my County representative and my State representative being in the same family. They will be advising each other, they will be influenced by the same friends and relationships. Surely we have enough good people so that we don't need all of our representation living in the same household.

Amen to that, David. Can’t you just hear the dinner conversations now!

I agree with the interfamilial relationships. I think Will has done a good job and he has not had fingers all over the county in order to do it. I know politics has become tough, but that’s no reason we can’t have candidates that are independent of other politicians.
