Lakewood Ranch Again Named Among Top 10 Master Planned Communities in U.S.

LAKEWOOD RANCH – Lakewood Ranch, the mammoth east county development that reaches into both Manatee and Sarasota Counties, was again named to a top real estate consultant's list of the best master-planned communities in 2013. LWR saw an 8 percent increase in net sales over 2012, according to the report.

Lakewood Ranch was ranked 8 on the list last year. The 17,500-acre community is owned by Schroeder Manatee Ranch. The surrounding area has seen tremendous growth in both residential and commercial development, especially near its southern end, where the Nathan Benderson Park, a world-class rowing facility, has helped draw activity.

The long-awaited Mall at University Town Center, an 880,000 square foot, two-level enclosed shopping center anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Dillard’s, is set to open this October and is expected to contribute significantly to the area's continued growth. The mall will feature a blend of luxury stores and upscale restaurants, including The Capital Grille.
