Larry Smith, age 75, of Bradenton, Florida, loving husband of 43 years to Susan and father to Bradley, passed away on September 28, 2022, after a year-long battle with an illness.
He was born in Bradenton, Florida to Althea and English Smith.
He is also survived by his sister, Jill Hershfield (spouse, Sam) and many extended family members.
He was a graduate of Manatee High School class of ’65 and Presbyterian College and received his MBA from Georgia State University. He went on to work in financial consulting before becoming a partner in his own firm. Larry "Cooter" was best known for his quick wit and his kind and compassionate spirit. His lifelong love of physical fitness included weightlifting, running, biking and kayaking. Always supportive of his son, he also served as a youth soccer coach. He was proud to be an Army Veteran. Old radios held a fascination for Larry for many years and he enjoyed collecting them. His radio count reached over 200 at one point! He indulged his love for travel with his wife, Susan in many creative ways. He served others as a member of Kiwanis and he was a loyal friend who will be missed by many.
Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel will host a Visitation from 5-7 PM, Friday, Oct 14, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2022 Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church.
