Laura (Dama) Baden, born May 19, 1960, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of being a devoted mother and for facing life's challenges with strength, resilience, and a generous heart.

Laura was born in New Rochelle, New York, where she spent her early years before her family moved to Anna Maria Island in 1968. She grew up on the island alongside her sister, Lynne, and her parents, Anthony and Matilda (Collura) Dama. Laura graduated from Bayshore High School in 1978 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 1983.

She met her loving husband, Chris, during summer break while attending FSU. They subsequently married in 1984 and shared 41 years of marriage together. Laura's early career included various positions at Barnett Bank of Manatee County. Her final role with Barnett was as Assistant Vice President before she left to care for her family following the birth of her son.

Much of Laura's life was shaped by her courageous 42-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She found a community in different support groups and often served as a source of guidance and comfort for those newly diagnosed with the illness. Despite the challenges she faced, Laura cherished time with others-especially her lifelong friend group known as the "Ladies Auxiliary." She had a passion for cooking, staying active, and being outdoors on the water.

Laura was also an engaged member of the local community. She served as a sustaining member and past president of Junior League of Manatee County, coordinator of Manatee County's historic "Celebrate 2000" event, and volunteer for the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature (formerly the South Florida Museum), Manatee Glens, and the Community Thrift Store benefiting Saint Stephen's Episcopal School.

She is survived by her husband, Chris, son, Cory, sister, Lynne (Bob), and nieces Toni (Adam), Ashley (Kevin), and Madelyn.
