Law Enforcement MCSO November Deputy and Employee of the Month

MANATEE COUNTY – Eric Brown was instrumental in helping deputies conclude Operation Green Shepherd, an ongoing undercover investigation targeting child sex predators that led to 43 arrests. Sergeant Evelio Perez, Deputy James Savaglio and Deputy Adesh Ragoonanan responded to an armed suicide threat and were able to use quick thinking and decisive actions to resolve the situation without incident. They are the Manatee Sheriff's Office's November employee and deputies of the month.

During the month of September 2012 the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies concluded Operation Green Shepherd, an ongoing undercover investigation targeting child sex predators. As part of the MCSO staff, Eric Brown had a crucial role in this operation; he provided IT support consisting of installing computers, cameras, video recorders, and other equipment necessary at an undisclosed location in support of over 40 officers involved with this investigation. Eric’s ability to install, operate and maintain the necessary IT equipment significantly contributed to the successful outcome of this operation.

For his actions that went above and beyond the scope of his duties, Eric Brown is awarded Employee of the Month for November 2012.

On October 12, 2012, Sergeant Evelio Perez, Deputy James Savaglio and Deputy Adesh Ragoonanan responded to an incident reference a suicidal subject. The subject claimed to be armed with a firearm and wanted to end his life at the hands of law enforcement. After formulating a tactical plan, the deputies made a slow approach to the residence and located the subject who was hiding behind some hedges. Showing great courage, restraint, and incredible judgment they were able to gain tactical advantage until the subject complied by dropping the handgun. The subject was then secured without further incidents.

Due to their remarkable observations, quick and decisive action, a potential deadly conflict was avoided and everyone involved was safe. For their rapid and vital response, Sergeant Evelio Perez, Deputy Adesh Ragoonanan and Deputy James Savaglio are awarded Deputy of the Month for November 2012. The Bradenton Times salute them for their service.
