Letter to the Editor: Reflections of Manatee

Dear Editor

As a direct descendant of Josiah Gates, I am highly offended by the actions of Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston regarding the lands that were donated to Reflections of Manatee for historic preservation. If the title was in my name, they would really have a fight on their hands.

It is bad enough that most of the homes of my ancestors are gone, but the callousness to disregard the history of Bradenton by destroying what little is left leaves me dumbfounded. Woe for Josiah, Edward Franklin, Dr. Hubbard and my grandfather, Louis E. Gates.
