It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Ruthel Wingate, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Linda peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in her home in Sarasota, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.
Born on a crisp autumn day, September 3, 1948, in West Virginia, Linda's journey began in the scenic mountains and woodlands of an idyllic setting. She made her indelible mark in Florida, where she attended Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Florida, paving the way for a life filled with love and purpose.
Linda devoted 25 years of hard work and camaraderie as a dedicated Feed Store Associate at Come See Come Save, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to her colleagues and clients. Her kindness and strength were palpable, enriching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Linda's memory will forever be cherished by her loving children: Melinda Irene (Melvin) Robar of Sarasota, FL, Ronnie (Amie) Wingate of Bradenton, FL, and Sherrie (Ray) Brown of Palmetto. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Becky Loman, Karen Cantu, and Sue Ridgewell, who shared many treasured moments with her.
Her legacy extends to her beloved grandchildren, Krystle Rayburn, Ashley Wingate, Hope Davis, Michael Summers, Kobe Robar, Jessica (Mackenze) Merritt, Cody Wingate, Chesnie Wingate, John Ashley Wingate, Joey (Stacey) Branch, DJ Branch, and Ryan Branch, whom she adored deeply. Her great-grandchildren, numbering 14, will continue to carry her spirit forward for generations to come.
Preceded in death by her cherished parents, Estill Shaffer and Francis Valentine, and her husband, Ronnie Chester Wingate, Linda had a special place in her heart for each of them, cherishing the memories and love they shared.
Linda's passions were as vibrant as her spirit, and she found joy in simple pleasures, including fishing, gardening, and cooking. Her warmth shone through in every lovingly prepared meal and each plant she tended to in her garden.
Linda will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of those who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
