Local Government Palmetto City Commission Agenda Results: 12/10/2012

PALMETTO -- At the Palmetto City Commission meeting Monday, Public Works Director Allen Tusing announced plans for the new Little League field were sent over from the county. The construction start date will be discussed at the December 13 workshop. City Attorney Mark Barnebey suggested that as a matter of policy, quasi-judicial matters should not be discussed in workshops.

3.  RIVIERA WALK WEST-PARTIAL RELEASE OF 20’ UTILITY EASEMENT (L. Lyn)

This is a request for partial release of a 20’ utility easement along the eastern border of parcel #2580010409.

Action Request: Motion to approve the proposed partial release of a 20” utility easement for Riviera Walk West.  --Applicant consultant, Janice Austin, from, Austin Environmental Group is mitigating one tenth of a one acre wetland with SWFWMD. Applicant was previously approved for a 60 town house development. --  Approved, 4 -- 1, Williams dissenting.

8. BASEBALL FIELD UPDATE -- County has brought site plan to Palmetto to insure it is compatible, and will be at workshop on Dec 13, 

Commissioner Smith feels city is not getting fair representation from the county.

9. ASR WELL UPDATE -- Received first report today.   24" casing is cemented to 280 ft. and there will be a report every month.

10. DEPARTMENT HEADS’ COMMENTS -- City Clerk Jim Freeman, word from county to mirror one day off for employees (one time holiday - Motion to give one day holiday, -- Approved, Unanimous

11. MAYOR’S REPORT --  Saturday at the grand opening at Dunkin Donuts in Palmetto, I got to fill donuts. 

12. COMMISSIONERS’ COMMENTS --  Commissioner Williams brought up talking about workshops before public hearing. Barnebey suggest to wait to discuss agenda items at public meeting (no ex-parte prior to meeting). Williams concerns are that the commission is not utilizing the available time to further understand subject matter prior to meeting. Barnebey suggested, if it is not a quasi judicial matter, it can be discussed at workshop.
