Louie P. Korrie, 87, formally of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL on Sept. 6, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born on August 10, 1935, in Utica, NY, Louie was the son of the late Abraham and Susie (Nackley) Korrie. As a kid, he was industrious and determined. He placed great importance on family and took pride in his Lebanese heritage.

Lou graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1954 and Mohawk Valley Community College in 1956 and went on to a successful career in retail management. Through his consistent work ethic and passion for serving others, he advanced to management-level positions at E.W. Edwards & Son, Charney’s, and the Addis Co. in Syracuse, NY, before retiring to Bradenton.

Lou loved and lived life with intention, kindness, and zest. He was an avid boater and fisherman who enjoyed traveling and music. The dance floor wasn’t empty if Lou was around. He remained active well into his 80s with regular bike rides, daily walks, and a fitness routine in a gym he built in his home. He was proud of his four children and enjoyed watching his boys’ football and lacrosse games at West Genesee High School and Syracuse University.

Always the first to lend a hand to help neighbors and friends, Lou was warmhearted and philanthropic. He was a fixture at his community coffee hours and would make a person welcome and cared for, even in the shortest conversation. Every person mattered to Lou. He also made it a point to give back, living a modest life so he could support organizations that mattered to him most like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and animal rescue groups.

Surviving Lou are his longtime companion, Carroll Blaszak; four children, Peter (Donna) Korrie of Riverview, FL, Cindy (Greg) Frary of Syracuse, Susan (Kurt) McAllister of Brewerton, Tom (Kim) Korrie of Minnesota; two brothers, John Korrie and George (Philis) Korrie, sister-in-law Marilou Korrie; grandchildren Ryan (Heather) Korrie, Scott (Ashley) and Katie Burns, Andrew and Michelle Korrie, and Kelsey Frary; great grandchildren Alexa Korrie and McKenzie Burns and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by grandson Jordan Frary, two sisters, Kay Bolecek and Annie (Sal) Benincasa; three brothers, Joseph (Anne) Korrie, Anthony (Flo) Korrie, Patrick Korrie and a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Korrie.

Lou was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota.
