Major Edward Dopler

Major Edward "Ed" Dopler, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by his wife Frances Dopler, his loving family and cherished church friends.

Ed was born on January 13, 1932, in Pennsylvania. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong sense of duty, honor, and service that would define his life. Shortly after graduating from school, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for many years. He began his military career as an Airman, serving his first seven years in the enlisted ranks before earning a commission as a Second Lieutenant, he reached the rank of Major when he retired. Throughout his distinguished Air Force career, Ed served as an Aircraft Commander, flying the VC-118 transport aircraft. His leadership, professionalism, and dedication led him to assignments of increasing responsibility, including a position at the Pentagon. He later continued his service with Special Operations Command near MacDill Air Force Base, where he concluded his remarkable career, retiring as a GS-14.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Dopler. Beyond his military and civilian service, Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and man of great faith. He made his home in Bradenton, Florida, with his second beloved wife, Frances Dopler. Together they shared a life grounded in faith, family, and friendship.

Ed was the proud father of Steven Dopler and his wife, Vicki; Susan Adamitis and her husband, Michael; and Samuel Dopler. He was also a loving grandfather to Hope Wyatt, Hannah Dopler, and Samantha Dopler, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.

A faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton, Florida, Ed found great joy and fellowship within his church community. His church family was a source of strength, friendship, and spiritual fulfillment, and he cherished the many relationships he built there over the years. Ed will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his deep love for his family, his steadfast faith, and his kind and generous spirit. His legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Frances; family and by his many friends; and his Saint Joseph Church family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 9-10AM at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes, 43rd St. Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34209, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2704 33rd Ave. W. Bradenton, FL 34205 at 11:00AM. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Ed's life of faith, service, and devotion. May he rest in eternal peace.
