BRADENTON - A 38-year-old Bradenton man died Monday morning after he was Tasered and arrested following a police chase.
Derrick Humbert of Bradenton was pulled over for a traffic stop in the 700 block of 27th Street East at about 12:18 a.m., a Bradenton Police Department press release said, and the release said he refused to stop and ran away on foot.
Humbert led police on a chase through the yards of private residences, and an officer used his Taser to bring Humbert to a stop and allow him to be arrested.
He was transported by EMS to Manatee Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the Manatee County Jail, but he died while being treated at the hospital.
The release said that Humbert had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of marijuana.
