Manatee County Commission Agenda Results: 5/6/2014

Posted

BRADENTON -- At Tuesday's BOCC meeting, Manatee County Commissioners deferred a highly-controversial proposal to revisit the health care referendum that was defeated in a special election last year. In other business, commissioners adopted a regional communication network between Manatee and Sarasota Counties, and voted to put the first every half-hour MCAT and SCAT to two of their routes.

COMMISSIONER AGENDA

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS

42. Commissioner Comments -- Devolved into a nearly hour-long discussion on the county's EMS after Commissioner Gallen read an email from a disgruntled employee who alleged that policies in which county ambulances were being used for non-emergency transports at the expense of adequate response time, despite private services that are equipped to handle such transports being available, is creating a dangerous situation. Ultimately, and with considerable back and forth, the discussion ended with all commissioners agreeing that a workshop on the matter would be scheduled
