MANATEE COUNTY -- This week's local football action is red hot, as another out-of-area powerhouse travels to Hawkins stadium to challenge the surging Hurricanes, who look poised to make a run at the state title. Red-hot Palmetto (6-0) and recovering Lakewood Ranch both have bye weeks.

Cypress Bay (Weston) travels to Manatee to try and beat the 'Canes who've been routing Florida football teams all season. Both teams are 3-2, but Manatee is a comfortable favorite against the Lightning. Braden River and Bayshore both try to get back on track after suffering blowout losses last week, when they face off in an all-Manatee matchup.

Meanwhile, Southeast (5-1) looks to stay on track after bouncing back from their 48-6 loss to Manatee with a win last week, when they travel to Sarasota to take on Riverview. Bradenton Christian travels north to Carrollwood Day for a Saturday afternoon game.
