Manatee County Holiday Schedule Changes

BRADENTON – Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from Manatee County. As Christmas and New Year’s Day both fall on the weekend this year, county offices and activities will shift a bit during the holiday season.

Manatee County offices will be closed on the following days:

• Christmas Eve (observed) Friday, December 23, 2022
• Christmas Day (observed) Monday, December 26, 2022
• New Year's Day (observed), Monday, January 2, 2023
• Garbage, yard waste, and recycling collections will occur on their regularly scheduled days. The Lena Road Landfill will be closed Saturday, Christmas Eve, December 24, and Christmas Day, December 25, as well as New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, and New Year’s Day, January 1, 2023. Landfill operations will resume Monday, January 2, 2023.

Manatee County public parks, preserves, and beaches remain open to the public. Manatee County and Buffalo Creek golf courses will be closed on Christmas Day.

G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed on Saturday, December 24; Sunday, December 25; and Sunday, January 1. The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 23; Monday, December 26; Saturday, December 31; and Monday, January 2, 2023. Please note that the Recreation Center and Fitness Center will be closed for HVAC repairs on December 26, and there will be no group exercise classes. The Walton Racquet Center will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day and will receive check-ins for racquet sports, pool, and basketball.

Manatee County Public Libraries will be closed on Friday, December 23; Christmas Eve, December 24; Christmas Day, December 25; and Monday, December 26. All branches will also be closed Saturday, December 31; New Year's Day, January 1, 2023, and Monday, January 2, 2023.

Manatee County Animal Welfare operations will be closed to the public on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Bishop Animal Shelter will be open Friday, December 23, and Monday, December 26, from Noon to 3 p.m. The Palmetto Adoption Center and Cat Town will be open on December 23 and December 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All MCAT buses will conclude their routes at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Anna Maria Island Trolley will cease operations at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. There will be no fixed route or Handy Bus service on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. The Anna Maria Trolley will operate on its normal schedule on Christmas Day.
