BRADENTON – At tonight's regular meeting, the Manatee County School Board is expected to approve its first budget for the district under new superintendent Rick Mills.

The board will hold a final public hearing on the district's FY 2013-14 budget before voting on it. Approval of the $568 million budget would include approving a millage rate for FY 2013-14, and would come after voting on amendments to the budget and approval of the district's Annual Financial Report for FY 2012-13.

In other business, a new contract that would solidify the sale of the district's Checkers/Owens 65,210 square ft. property has been drawn up, and will be voted on as well.

Another major contract to be voted on is an agreeement between the district and the Manatee Education Association, wherein MEA employees working within the district would receive a 2.12 percent pay increase.

A board workshop that was set for this afternoon was canceled last week.
