Manatee County Tax Collector

Posted

BRADETNON -- Michelle Leeson is the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Employee of the 3rd Quarter 2014.  A valued employee for over 20 years, Michelle serves in the Field Services and Collections (FS&C) department as Paralegal and Collections Specialist.  This is the second Employee of the Quarter awarded her, the first in 2003.

“Michelle has provided outstanding service to our Office and FS&C Department, especially during this last quarter,” said Tax Collector, Ken Burton Jr.  “Not only did Michelle prepare, cross-train and train staff in succession planning for our paralegal’s retirement, during this time she also prepared for her own Certified Paralegal examination. She also serves on our Best Business Practices Team, a collaborative team that makes positive improvements to our office structure and culture.”

“Michelle has dedicated lunch hours, breaks and taken exams on Saturdays to ensure the highest standards are obtained for the Paralegal and Collection Specialist position,” said Michele Schulz, FS&C Director.  “She also worked hand-in-hand with our vendors and other departments to ensure a successful 2014 Tax Certificate Sale in June.  Michelle worked through some ‘firsts’ regarding properties involved in tax deeds, List of Lands and County-held certificates requiring revisions to business rules and calculations in our property tax software that are very difficult.  Her attitude is always ‘this is just my job’ and that is refreshing!”

Michelle exhibits our core values of Teamwork, Excellence and Accountability.

Michelle’s name is engraved on the Employee of the Quarter Trophy, she receives a certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, names a themed casual day in her honor, and a free pizza from Demetrio’s Pizza House, Cortez Road.
