BRADENTON — Manatee County will distribute $1.2 million in funding to support housing rehabilitation and replacement efforts for qualified homeowners through the Manatee County Community and Veterans Services Department.
Beginning March 24, 2025, low and very-low-income Manatee County residents can submit entry forms through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) Housing Rehabilitation/Replacement Program. The program provides 0% interest-deferred payment loans for a 20-year term to make code-related repairs to homesteaded properties or replace dilapidated single-family housing structures.
To be eligible, households must be in Unincorporated Manatee County or City of Palmetto and be within the program standards for low and very-low income and property value. Through this program, housing conditions can be corrected and modified to improve the health, safety and welfare for the people who live there. Program entry forms will be available beginning March 24, 2025, at this link.
Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 7, 2025. Those who need help completing and submitting an online entry form can call (941) 749-3030.
“This is an opportunity to get much needed help to rebuild,” said Manatee County Commission Chair George Kruse. “We look forward to helping residents stay in their homes.”
On April 11, 2025, Manatee County staff will use a lottery-style drawing to determine the order in which eligible applicants will be qualified and assisted. Priority will be given to those households impacted by Tropical Storm Debby, Hurricane Milton, or Hurricane Helene in accordance with the Manatee County Local Housing Assistance Plan. Funding will be awarded to households who meet the eligibility requirements until all funds have been committed.
