Manatee School Board Issues RFQ for Attorney

BRADENTON – The School Board of Manatee County has issued a Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for a School Board Attorney to provide legal advice in a wide array of areas related to education and the operations of the school district.

General qualifications advertised by the school board include:

  • Be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar for at least five years.
  • Admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals
  • Minimum of five years local government, administrative law, or school law.
  • Experience in civil litigation and administrative agency proceedings.


The School Board will attempt to adhere to the following schedule:

  • May 31, 2013 Written responses due prior to 2:00 P.M.
  • June 3, 2013 Submittals posted to District website; Board to conduct workshop to select top three (3) candidates
  • June 10, 2013 Interviews of top three (3) candidates at 3:00 PM; final candidate selected at regular Board meeting; negotiations ensue
  • June 24, 2013 Approval of negotiated contract


The School Board reserves the right to alter scheduled dates without notice as deemed appropriate by the Board.
