Manatee School Board Preview for Tuesday, November 19

Posted

BRADENTON – Tuesday is a busy day for the Manatee County School Board, which will convene for three meetings before the end of the day. An afternoon workshop will precede a regular meeting, which will be followed by a special reorganization meeting.

During the board's workshop, an update will be given on the Workers' Compensation Fund Balance, and representatives from the Manatee Education Foundation will present a formal agreement that would seek to govern the relationship between the MEF and the board. An update on various properties in consideration for surplus and disposal will also be provided.

After the workshop, the school board will vote on whether to approve the district's 2013-2014 School Improvement Plans, which were submitted by low-graded individual schools. Each school's plan would contain performance standards that would need to meet district and state priorities.

Following the regular meeting, a reorganization meeting is set to include an election of a chair and vice chair, and choosing of board committee assignments. During a recess of the meeting, the annual meeting for the Manatee School Board Leasing Corporation will take place.
