Manatee School District Hires New Finance Director

BRADENTON – The Manatee County School District has announced that Rebecca Roberts, CPA, CIA, will be its new Finance Director. According to a press release, Roberts comes to Manatee County from Maryland where she served as the City of Baltimore’s Division Chief (Chief Accountant) since 2010. Roberts replaces Tommy Crosby, who resigned in January 2014 to become the Director of Alachua County’s Office of Management and Budget.

According to Ms. Robert’s resume, she is a graduate of the University of Maryland and her experience includes a stint as Director of Financial Reporting and Accounting Compliance at ASARCO, LLC, in Tucson, Arizona, from 2008 to 2010, and a term as Vice President of Operations/Controller for Lancaster Foods, LLC, in Jessup, Maryland, from 2006 to 2008.

“We are grateful to have someone with Rebecca’s knowledge and experience joining our leadership team,” said Superintendent Mills. “She is a great addition and will strengthen our control of the district’s finances.”
