Manatee School District Invites Parents to Gifted Student Seminar

MANATEE COUNTY -- The School District of Manatee County will hold a seminar on the district's Gifted Program on Thursday, November 21, from from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the school district's Professional Support Center. Parents who attend the seminar will learn how to request evaluation of their child for the Gifted Program, how students are referred and evaluated for Gifted Program eligibility, benefits of the Gifted program and more.

Who is Gifted and Talented?

  • Someone who has the potential for  an exceptional level of performance in one or more areas of expression.
  • About 5% of the student population
  • 3 million children, nationwide


Do You Think Your Child is Gifted?

For more information on the School District of Manatee County’s Gifted Program, plan to attend an informational seminar for parents provided by staff from the Exceptional Student Education and Student Services Department:

As a result of this seminar, participants will:

  • Understand how parents and others may request evaluation of a child for the Gifted Program
  • Know who to contact at the school for information on the Gifted Program
  • Understand how students are referred  and evaluated  for Gifted Program eligibility
  • Identify characteristics of Gifted learners
  • Understand the benefits and curricular components of the Gifted Program
