Manatees Pound Marauders 6-1

BRADENTON – The Marauders (8-16) had a quiet offensive night Monday at McKechnie Field, falling 6-1 against the Brevard County Manatees (13-11). Dan Gamache gave the Marauders a 1-0 lead with an RBI-single in the second to score Jose Osuna, but Bradenton managed just two hits over the next seven innings.

Matt Benedict (L, 0-4) was tagged for four runs when the Manatees batted around in the third innings. Brevard County added an additional run in each of the two innings, including a solo homer by Cody Hawn in the fifth. It was Hawn’s third home run of the season.

Brent Suter (W, 1-0) made his Florida State League debut for Brevard County. The Harvard product held Bradenton to three hits over six innings, striking out four and walking two.

The Marauders and Manatees have split the first two games of the series. Game three of the four game series is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Adrian Sampson is slated to make his fifth start of the season. He will be opposed by 2011 first round pick Jed Bradley.
