PALM BEACH – The Cardinals and Marauders split a pair of games at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday night. The outcomes leave Palm Beach one game ahead of Bradenton in the South Division standings.

In a game suspended due to rain on July 6, the Marauders scored quickly after resumption to open up a 5-1 lead and went on to win 5-2 over the Palm Beach Cardinals. Felipe Gonzalez (W, 1-0) pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits while striking out four in his Marauders debut.

The game resumed with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Marauders leading 3-1. Gonzalez struck out Dante Rosenberg to start Bradenton off on the right foot.

Walker Gourley singled in a run in the top of the sixth inning off Thomas Lee to extend the lead to 4-1. Lee walked Raul Fortunato with the bases loaded later in the inning to bring in the final Bradenton run.

The Cardinals plated three runs in the first inning and Jimmy Wagner (W, 6-1) pitched around several potential rallies to put Palm Beach alone in first place with a 4-1 win. John Kuchno (L, 8-9) started and pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Marauders. Raul Fortunato drove in the only Bradenton run off Reed in the fourth.
