BRADENTON – The Marauders (9-5) gained sole possession of first place in the Florida State League South Division with a come from behind 2-1 win against the Jupiter Hammerheads (6-8) on Thursday night at McKechnie Field. Bradenton scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning against Jupiter reliever Juan Sosa (L, 0-1).

Jupiter held a 1-0 advantage through six innings before a 111 minute rain delay halted the game. The Marauders got a one-out double from Eric Woods to start the rally. Jin-De Jhang’s two-out single knotted the score. Jhang moved to second on the throw to the plate, then moved to third on Sosa’s wild pitch. Jacob Stallings laced a hard-hit ball off Jupiter shortstop Terrence Dayleg to give Bradenton the lead 2-1.

Tyler Waldron (W, 1-0) pitched two perfect innings in relief to earn the win. Jhondaniel Medina (S, 2) stranded the tying run at third base and the go-ahead run at second to earn his second save.

Orlando Castro and Scott Lyman matched up in a second straight start, and both repeated their dominance from the first meeting. This time Lyman got the edge, firing six innings of one-hit ball. The Marauders didn’t record a hit until Jeff Roy’s single in the sixth. Castro allowed one run in the fourth, finishing with five hits allowed, four strikeouts, and two walks.

Game two of the series is Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Jason Creasy will start on the hill for the Marauders. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
