BRADENTON –The Marauders (55-45, 20-11) blanked the Dunedin Blue Jays (61-41, 15-18) for the second straight day, posting a 4-0 win at McKechnie Field on Wednesday morning. Jason Creasy (W, 6-5) fired a career best 7 2/3 innings, scattering seven hits and one walk while striking out three. The walk was the first free pass issued by Creasy since June 11.
The Marauders blasted four solo home runs, tying the franchise record for blasts in a game. Walker Gourley smashed his first home run of the season in the first inning off Jesse Hernandez (L, 5-9). Eric Wood blasted his third bomb in the second inning to double the lead. Jose Osuna hit his fourth home run in the sixth inning, then connected for his fifth off Justin Jackson in the bottom of the eighth.
Dunedin threatened in the fourth and sixth, but Jordan Steranka started a pair of 3-6-3 double plays to end both frames. The Blue Jays loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but Christian Lopes bounced into a 5-3 double play to kill the rally.
Creasy was lifted with a man at first and two outs in the eighth. Justin Smith retired Dwight Smith Jr. to quell the threat. Bryton Trepagnier pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
The Marauders travel to Lakeland on Thursday to open a four game series against the Flying Tigers. Shane Carle will start on the mound for the Marauders. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast online on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
