DAYTONA BEACH – The Marauders (59-49, 24-15) blanked the Daytona Cubs (51-56, 25-14) 8-0 on Thursday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Thursday night. Three Marauders pitchers combined to walk 12 Cubs batters, but Daytona managed just four hits while stranding 14 runners. Bradenton split the four game series and finished 4-4 on an eight game road trip, returning home 1.5 games out of first place.
The Marauders plated five unearned runs in the second inning, capitalizing on two errors behind Daytona starter Tayler Scott (6-8). Jose Osuna hit two solo home runs in the game, his sixth and seventh of the year. Justin Maffei tripled and scored a run in the ninth. Osuna has hit safely in six straight games, while Osuna has now hit safely in 10 games in a row.
John Kuchno (W, 7-8) walked eight batters over 5 1/3 innings. Bryton Trepagnier inherited the bases full in the sixth and got a strikeout and a fly out to escape trouble. Trepagnier and Jhondaniel Medina combined to preserve Bradenton’s 16th shutout of the year.
The Marauders return home to open a four game series against the Brevard County Manatees on Friday night at McKechnie Field. Tyler Glasnow will pitch for the Marauders. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.
