BRADENTON – The Marauders (39-27) moved back into a tie for first place on Wednesday night by defeating the Fort Myers Miracle (38-28) 8-1 at McKechnie Field. The win, paired with a Palm Beach Cardinals defeat against Jupiter evened the standings.
Tyler Sample (W, 1-0) pitched four perfect innings in relief of Felipe Gonzalez. Sample struck out nine of the 12 batters he faced. Jhondaniel Medina tossed two scoreless innings to close the game out for the Marauders.
Fort Myers starter Matt Tomshaw (L, 11-6) tossed five innings and allowed five runs on eight hits. The Marauders finished with 13 hits in the game. Eric Wood had a double and a triple to pace five Bradenton batters with multi-hit games. Max Moroff drove in two runs.
The Marauders play a four game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs to close out the regular season. Game one is Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Florida State League Pitcher of the Year Tyler Glasnow will be on the mound for the Marauders. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast online at www.BradentonMarauders.com.
