Marauders Continue Streak With 5-3 Win Against Hammerheads

BRADENTON – The Marauders (10-5) defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads (6-9) 5-3 on Friday night at McKechnie Field. Bradenton opened up a 5-0 lead and fended off a late Jupiter rally to improve its winning streak to a season-best five games.

Jason Creasy (W, 1-0) tossed five scoreless innings for Bradenton, extending his scoreless inning streak against the Hammerheads to 11 innings. Creasy struck out three and walked one. Ryan Hafner pitched three innings, keeping the Marauders shutout intact until the eighth inning. Jupiter scored three times in the eighth and put the tying runs in scoring position with one out in the ninth. Bryton Trepagnier (S, 1) struck out Austin Barnes and Viosergy Rosa to strand the runners and end the game.

The Marauders jumped on Jupiter starter Austin Brice in the first inning. Adam Frazier led off the game with a triple to straightaway center and scored when Max Moroff followed with an RBI-groundout. Josh Bell, Jose Osuna, and Eric Wood hit consecutive singles with one out. Wood’s scored Bell, and Osuna came home on Jin-De Jhang’s sacrifice fly for the third run of the inning.

Frazier touched up Brice for a two-RBI double in the fourth after Jeff Roy led off the inning with a single and Raul Fortunato walked. Frazier, Roy, and Osuna all finished with two hits in the game.

The Marauders try for a second straight series sweep on Saturday night with Chad Kuhl on the mound. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The game will be preceded by an on-field Easter Egg Hunt for children 13 and younger at 5:45 p.m.
