BRADENTON – The Marauders (49-41, 14-7) won their fifth straight game, defeating the Tampa Yankees (44-48, 11-11) 4-3 on Saturday night at McKechnie Field. Bradenton has won 22 one-run games, the most of any team in the Florida State League.

Shane Carle (W, 1-0) won his Marauders debut, delivering six strong innings. After allowing a run in the first and the third, Carle faced one over the minimum over his final three innings. The righty struck out two, walked two, and surrendered four hits.

The Marauders erased a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the second. Raul Fortunato wacked a base hit up the middle off Tampa starter Conner Kendrick (L, 3-6) with the bases loaded to plate two runs and give Bradenton the lead.

The Yankees tied the score in the third inning 2-2, but the Marauders took the lead for good in home half of the inning. Barrett Barnes belted his first hit as a Marauder, lining a double to center field. Eric Wood doubled with two outs to score Barnes. Max Moroff added a run-scoring double in the seventh to give the Marauders a 4-2 lead.

Yhonathan Barrios (S, 1) recorded the save in his first appearance for the Marauders. He surrendered one run but struck out Greg Bird to end the game with the tying run at first. Jhondaniel Medina pitched in the seventh and eighth, striking out four over two scoreless frames.
