BRADENTON -- The Marauders (19-28) beat the Tampa Yankees (19-26) 12-4 for the second straight night, seizing a split of the four-game series on Thursday night at McKechnie Field. Adrian Sampson (W, 2-1) pitched five innings and avoided allowing an earned run despite allowing nine hits to the Yankees. Tampa stranded 11 runners in the game.

Three Yankees errors in the second and third innings helped the Marauders turn an early 2-0 deficit into an 8-2 lead. The Marauders led by at least six runs for the rest of the game, adding two runs in the fifth and two more in the eighth on Gregory Polanco’s two-RBI double. The Marauders cruised to victory despite being outhit 14-11.

Emmanuel De Leon pitched three innings in relief for his longest outing of the season. Joan Montero pitched the ninth, the only innings in which the Yankees did not have a batter reach safely.

Every Marauder had at least one hit in the game. Dan Gamache and Willy Garcia each had two hits. Chris Lashmet and Eric Avila each drove in three runs after beginning the night with one RBI each this season.
