Marauders Recognize Singh With Commemorative Bobble Head

Posted

BRADENTON – The Bradenton Marauders are recognizing Pirates minor league left-handed pitcher Rinku Singh with a commemorative bobble head to be given away at the gates to the first 1,000 fans on Saturday, May 17. The team hosts the Dunedin Blue Jays at McKechnie Field at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Singh’s journey from Indian game show contestant to professional pitcher will be depicted in the upcoming feature film “Million Dollar Arm.”

Singh and countryman Dinesh Patel traveled to the United States and signed with the Pirates after finishing as the top two contestants in the Indian game show with the same name as the film. The show was created by American sports agent J.B. Bernstein. Bernstein’s conceptualization and creation of the show is depicted in the movie as well.

Singh has pitched professionally in four seasons, most recently in 2012 with the Low-A West Virginia Power. Singh underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2013 and will miss the entire 2014 season. He will be portrayed in the movie by Suraj Sharma.

The bobble head is a caricature of Singh in a Bradenton Marauders jersey and cap. The figurine is poised to deliver a pitch.
