TAMPA – Tyler Glasnow (W, 1-3) struck out a dozen Tampa Yankees (26-26) as the Marauders (26-26) collected a second win in the span of 13 hours at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Bradenton scored three times in the fifth inning of a 3-0 victory that bumped the team’s record back to .500 for the season.

Glasnow earned his first win in dominating fashion. The right-hander struck out two batters to end the first, then also whiffed the first batter of the second. He struck out four straight after a leadoff walk in the third inning, collecting three swinging strikeouts to avoid and trouble and then starting the fourth inning with a looking strikeout. Greg Bird’s one-out single in the fourth was the only hit allowed by Glasnow, but he followed with two more staring strike threes. Glasnow collected strikeouts 10, 11, and 12 in order to end the fifth and begin the sixth before a walk and a fly out to right completed his day.

The 12 strikeouts is the second highest total ever recorded by a Marauders starter in a single game. Nick Kingham’s 13 strikeouts over six innings on April 28, 2013 remains the highest.

The Marauders scored all three of the game’s runs in the fifth. Jacob Stallings singled off Conner Kendrick (L, 1-2) to start the inning. Jeff Roy followed with a walk to put two on, then Raul Fortunato sacrificed himself to move the runners along. Taylor Lewis plated Stallings with a single to right field for the first run of the game. With Roy and Lewis at the corners, the Marauders used a double steal to plate Roy, with Lewis going to third on a throwing error when Cito Culver’s throw to the plate sailed wide. Lewis game home on Walker Gourley’s single that chased Kendrick.

Robby Rowland pitched 2 /13 scoreless innings in relief of Glasnow. Josh Smith (S, 3) collected his third save with a perfect ninth inning.

The series shifts to McKechnie Field on Thursday night. The Marauders send Chad Kuhl to the mound against the Yankees at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
