Marauders Shutout by Ft. Myers Miracle

Posted

FORT MYERS – Jason Wheeler (W, 2-1) fired a complete game two-hit shutout to lead the Miracle (14-10) past the Marauders (14-10) 7-0 on Monday night at Hammond Stadium. The loss drops Bradenton into a three-way tie for first place with Fort Myers and St. Lucie.

Wheeler faced one over the minimum, allowing just two singles and avoiding any walks. Wheeler whiffed three. Jordan Steranka singled in the second inning with one out but was stranded. Josh Bell singled with one out in the seventh. Jose Osuna’s long drive to left died at the wall for the second out, and Bell was subsequently caught stealing to end the inning.

Orlando Castro (L, 2-1) took the loss on the hill for the Marauders. Castro made his shortest outing of the year, getting tagged for four runs over 4 1/3 innings. Josh Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief. Robby Rowland surrendered three runs over the final two innings.

Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Hammond Stadium. Jason Creasy will start on the mound for the Marauders against Tyler Duffey for Fort Myers. The game will be broadcast live online on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
