Posted

BRADENTON – The Marauders (25-28) reeled off win number six in a row, topping the Jupiter Hammerheads (28-30) 3-1 on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. The longest win streak in franchise history is nine in a row, set in 2011.

Jupiter plated a run in the second on a bases-loaded double play grounder, but that was all they managed against Pat Ludwig (W, 2-2). The reigning FSL Pitcher of the Week tossed seven strong innings, surrendering just four hits and one walk. He struck out four.

Bradenton struck back quickly to tie the game. Dan Gamache led off the bottom of the second with his fourth home run of the season. That bomb, paired with Willy Garcia’s two-RBI double in the second, sent Jacob Esch (L, 1-9) back into the loss column despite more than doubling his season high in strikeouts with nine. Esch pitched six innings for the Hammerheads.

Joan Montero walked three in the eighth, but a timely double play ball helped him secure two outs without allowing a run. Zac Fuesser retired Alfredo Lopez to end the threat with men at the corners. Robbie Kilcrease pitched a perfect ninth to secure his 11th save.

Bradenton and Jupiter play Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at McKechnie Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The game is a free ticket Buy Out Night presented by Bank of America. Vouchers for free tickets can be printed at www.BradentonMarauders.com.
