BRADENTON – The Marauders (38-26) seized sole possession of second place and moved to a half game out of first with a 3-2 win over the Fort Myers Miracle (37-27) on Monday night at McKechnie Field. Jason Creasy (W, 7-9) tossed six innings and struck out seven batters in the victory.

Creasy got stronger as the game went along. He was tagged for a run on three hits in the first inning, but induced a double play off the bat of Adam Brett Walker to limit the damage to one run. He surrendered a solo home run to Stuart Turner in the second, but then allowed just one more hit the rest of the way.

The Marauders cut into the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Raul Fortunato came through with a two-out double with men at the corners to bring Bradenton within two runs. The Marauders did the rest of the scoring with two outs in the fifth. Max Moroff’s RBI single chased Brett Lee (L, 10-5). A wild pitch by Madison Boer brought home the eventual winning run two batters later.

Bryton Trepagnier pitched the seventh and eighth innings for Bradenton. Yhonathan Barrios (S, 9) pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Chad Kuhl makes the start for the Marauders, while Steven Gruver goes to the hill for Fort Myers.
