Mary Hamstra, 93, Bradenton, Fl. went to be in God’s presence on December 7, 2022.

Mary was born in Chicago, Il. and came to this area 65 years ago. Mary was busy raising her eight children and worked various jobs. She owned and operated several restaurants including the Yum Yum Shoppe in Bayshore Gardens, the Yum Yum Station in eastern Manatee County, and the Cortez CafŽ in Cortez. After the restaurants, she enjoyed her time as the owner/operator of Fantasy Travel, which allowed her to travel around the world. She was a longtime member of Bradenton Christian Reformed Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and helping in the library. She was active in the formation of the Bradenton Christian School and helped to establish this school so that her children could have a Christian education. In her later life, she enjoyed working puzzles and coloring.

She leaves her sons William of Cape Coral, FL., Robert of Tampa, FL., Thomas of Bradenton, FL., and James of Fort Lauderdale, FL She also had four daughters, Karen, Mary Kay, and Janet all of Bradenton, FL and Joyce of Millers Creek, NC., and three sisters, Hermina, Carolyn, and Johanna, all of Bradenton, FL. Mary loved her 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 16, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West Bradenton, FL 34207. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bradenton Christian Reformed Church on December 17, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. Interment will take place at Mansion Memorial Park.
